The silicone sleeve fits snugly and makes the portafilter comfortable to grip even right after a long pull, which I wasn't expecting. It's a small add-on but honestly it's saved me from burnt fingers more than once now.
Every time I pull a shot now, the portafilter stays perfectly cool to the touch even right after a long preheat—no more burnt fingers. The silicone grip also makes twisting it into the group head feel much more secure. Best few bucks I've spent on this setup.
I was skeptical a sleeve would make much difference, but the way it hugs the portafilter means my fingers never touch the hot metal during a pull. Much easier to lock in and out without flinching, and it hasn't slipped once since I put it on.
